Ecological Change Markers are non-permanent sculptural monuments to the rapid ecological changes happening all around us.

The sculptures function as contemplative objects, prompting viewers to notice these changes and invite further investigation. The objects are also intended to prompt viewers to consider their own role in shaping and sustaining our local ecosystems. When possible, indigenous plants are planted in a ring around the base of the installed sculpture to enhance native biodiversity at the selected site.

Ecological change is connected to every aspect of these sculptures: the materials, the colors, and the forms. Materials include ash wood, roots from trees and shrubs listed as noxious weeds, and non-toxic, water-based pigment.
